A Matter of Scale

So here we are
Just 2 grains of sand on the shore
Living on the edge of the universe
Believing that we’re at the core.

None of us aware
when at rest that we’re
Travelling around
At 66,000 miles an hour

Living our lives
So tiny and trivial are they
No sooner left the womb
than headlong in the tomb
It’s really not that long a stay

But I know that it’s just a matter of scale

But seen from our eyes
Everything falls into place
The days that we share, the fact that we care
A kiss that brushes your face

Cos I know that you know me

And we’re so in love
But they don’t know what it’s like
To be so in love
But they don’t know what it’s like
They don’t know what it’s like

So just like ants
Unaware of the giants that tread
Uncaring, unthinking upon their heads
We live in ignorant bliss

A touch of a hand,
Yes really that’s all that it takes
To set them at war with our little world
They’ll crush it, not stop till it breaks

But I know that we’ll prevail because

We’re so in love
They don’t know what it’s like
To be so in love
They don’t know what it’s like
To be so in love
They don’t know what it’s like
They don’t know what it’s like
They don’t know what it’s like
